me and my [not so] lonely planet

turns out we're not all that different

So, I’m quite lazy. Which is why I’m posting this photo. It pretty much sums up my Halloween in New York. There was no way Laura (pictured right) and I (left) were planning on dressing up hoochie hoochie for the parade, especially when it was like 5 degrees out. So instead we found these amazing onesies…
Flying Squirrels wahhht?!
Anyway, in Times Square well after midnight we had (no joke or exaggeration) a hundred people swarming around us, asking for photos. We stayed there for over an hour smiling, frowning, doing cartwheels and being idiots for stranger’s pictures before we dance battled live on Nepalese News. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to find the footage.
Yet.
We decided that they were simply the coolest things ever (we know this to be true), so on the 1st of November we cruised out onto the Staten Island Ferry and changed into out costumes… On the Ferry. After attracting much attention (as a flying squirrel does), and justifying our costuming (but Sir in Australia Halloween falls on the 1st because of the time difference!) and then telling them that, no we were just awesome and decided to wear them, again, the crew members found us hanging out on the Ferry in our costumes on our way back to Manhattan and began talking to us.
Long story short, they invited us up to the Captains Room as soon as we left the dock and then when we up there, they asked us if we wanted to drive the boat.
Yes, last night we drove the Staten Island Ferry.
Being a Flying Squirrel gets you places, evidently.
